TOUR ITINERARY

  • In the morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport.

  • You will take a domestic flight to Ulgii city, the center of Bayan-Ulgii province in western Mongolia.

  • After landing, you will meet your local guide and local service team.

  • Lunch break in Ulgii city

  • Then, drive about 100 km to reach Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.

  • In the evening, set up camp and dinner

  • Stay in tent under the stars.

DAY 1 ULAANBAATAR CITY-ULGII CITY-TSENGEL TOWN /1,850 kms/
  • Breakfast

  • Continue your drive deeper into Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.

  • Along the way, stop to explore ancient deer stones and archaeological burial sites, giving a glimpse into Mongolia’s rich history.

  • Lunch break

  • Arrive at your campsite near a Tuvan ethnic nomad family, surrounded by stunning nature.

  • Enjoy a short hike to a nearby mountain for beautiful views.

  • Meet your local assistant team who will help during the trekking journey. They will bring pack camels to carry all the luggage, camping gear, and food supplies /Note: From Day 3 there will be no vehicles—just you, the mountains, and the camels for the next seven days./

DAY 2 ALTAI TAVAN BOGD NATIONAL PARK /140 kms/
  • Breakfast

  • Begin our trekking to the Altai Tavan Bogd sacred mountains.

  • The trekking takes about 4–5 hours, covering 16 km through gentle mountain passes.

  • Enjoy stunning views of Mongolia’s highest snow-capped peaks and glaciers.

  • Lunch surrounded by nature

  • Continue the trekking

  • Arrive at the base camp near Potanin Glacier, Mongolia’s largest glacier.

  • Set up camp in the base camp /Altitude is around 3,100 meters above sea level/

  • Dinner

  • Stay overnight in tent

DAY 3 JOURNEY TO ALTAI TAVAN BOGD SACRED MOUNTAINS /16 kms/
  • Breakfast earlier

  • Climbing to Malchin peak, which is one of Altai Tavan Bogd mountains, and standing at 4,050 meters above sea level. - This mountain is located right on the border of Mongolia and Russia. From the top of peak, enjoy breathtaking views of the Potanin Glacier and the snow- covered Altai Mountains. /The distance from the base of ascent to the top of Malchin Peak is 5.8 kilometers. There is a path to the peak/

  • Lunch with a view /Lunch box/ — enjoy your meal on top of Malchin Peak!

  • After spending time at the summit, back down to base camp.

  • Arrive at base camp and having a dnner

DAY 4 BASE CAMP - MALCHIN PEAK /16 kms/

  • Begin our trekking about 18 km along the Tsagaan River, walking through a beautiful and peaceful valley.

  • Along the trekking way, visit a local Tuvan nomad family and experience their unique culture.

  • Lunch break

  • Continue the journey and reach Shiveet Khairkhan Mountain — a sacred mountain for the local people, especially the Tuvans, and home to wild mountain goats (ibex).

  • Camp near the mountain /Altitude is around 2,500 meters above sea level/

  • Dinner

  • Stay overnight in tent.

  • Higlights: Tsagaan river, peaceful valley, Tuvan Nomad family, sacred Shiveet Khairkhan mountain

DAY 5 BASE CAMP - TUVAN NOMAD FAMILY - SHIVEET KHAIRKHAN MOUNTAIN /16 kms/
DAY 6 SHIVEET KHAIRKHAN MOUNTAIN - VALLEY OF KHAR SALAA /20 kms/
  • Have a peaceful breakfast

  • Begin our trekking around 20 km through the beautiful Khar Salaa mountain valley.

  • Trekking to Ancient Rock Art & Sacred Valley - Most remarkably, explore ancient deer stones and thousands of petroglyphs dating back 8,000 to 10,000 years — silent storytellers preserving the secrets, beliefs, and lifeways of early nomadic civilizations. It is the part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Lunch break in sacred place

  • Continue the journey, enjoy views of small mountain lakes, home to various water birds and surrounded by peaceful nature.

  • Camp near a local nomads /Altitude is around 2,450 meters above sea level/

DAY 7 VALLEY OF KHAR SALAA - TAKHILT PASS - BAAVGAIT VALLEY /18 kms/

  • Crossing the pass can be challenging, especially if there is snow, so take your time and enjoy the views.

  • After the pass, lunch break

  • Continue trekking about 10 km through Baavgait Valley, also known as Bear Valley—a peaceful and scenic place.

  • Set up camp surrounded by beautiful nature /Altitude is around 3,300 meters above sea level/

  • Enjoy a warm and delicious dinner under the open sky, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature and stunning mountain views.

  • As the sun sets and the air cools, the calm beauty of the landscape makes the meal feel even more special — a perfect end to a day of adventure.

DAY 8 BAAVGAIT VALLEY - NAIMAN LAKE /18 kms/

  • Begin our trekking about 16–18 km through Naiman lake

  • During your journey, enjoy rocky ridges, soft green meadows, occasional sightings of wildlife, wide open valleys and gentle slopes, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the Altai wilderness.

  • Lunch break

  • Continue the journey and by late afternoon, arrive at next camping spot “Naiman lake”. Have a fabulous panoramic view of the lakes and surrounding mountains, especially stunning in the golden evening light.

  • Dinner and Stay in tent /Altitude is around 2,200 meters above sea level/

  • Relax and take in the calm atmosphere as you spend the night camping near the lakeside.

DAY 9 NAIMAN LAKE - KHOTON LAKE /25 kms/ - LAST DAY OF TREKKING

  • Begin our trekking about 25 km to reach the stunning Khoton Lake. During the journey, enjoy the peaceful scenery and fresh mountain air.

  • Lunch break

  • Continue the trekking and arrive at Khoton lake. Take in the breathtaking view of snow-capped mountains reflecting on the calm surface of the lake — a truly magical sight.

  • Register at the Aral Tolgoi border military post, as the lake is near the border area.

  • Set up camp near the lake and dinner /Altitude is around 2,200 meters above sea level/

  • Stay in tent

DAY 10 KHOTON LAKE - KAZAKH NOMAD FAMILY /10 kms/
  • Breakfast

  • After breakfast, explore another cultural site with hundreds of ancient petroglyphs, carved by early nomads.

  • Then, visit a Kazakh nomad family to experience their unique way of life. Gain insight into their daily traditions, hospitality, and deep cultural heritage — especially their incredible practice of training golden eagles for hunting, a rare and ancient art still alive today.

  • In the afternoon, drive back to camp and having lunch

  • Relax at the campsite and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
    Have a chance to learn how to cook a Mongolian dish and play a traditional game with your guides or hosts or local service team

  • Dinner and campfire - Share stories under the stars. It’s a perfect place to rest, recharge, and connect with local culture before the final leg of your journey.
