CRANE FESTIVAL 2026

This tour is particularly well- suited for travelers who are interested in Special-Interest and birdwatching tour. The traditional “Crane Festival 2026” will be held for the twelfth time in June 2026, on the shores of Tsagaan Lake in Binder Soum, Khentii province.

Celebrated for the twelfth time, the festival is dedicated to protecting the White-naped Crane and wetlands, which are rare both in Mongolia and worldwide. By working together with local communities, the event also aims to raise public awareness and support the growth of tourism that benefits the region.

Crane festival is a special day that brings together many different people who care about protecting cranes – including local residents, herders, crane researchers, conservationists and students from eco-clubs.

The festival program includes:

  • Art exhibition

    During this period, participants are invited to engage with ongoing research and conservation initiatives on cranes in Mongolia, and to actively contribute to activities aimed at their protection.

DAY 1 UB CITY – KHENTII, BINDER /12 June/ - 395 km
  • 06:00 – 10:00 Join a birdwatching tour – observe cranes, bustards, and waterbirds with Dr. Tseveenmyadag N or Visit the Khurkh bird banding station with researcher Tuvshinjargal E to learn about small birds and take part in waterbird watching tours.

  • 12:00 – 16:00 Training for Protected Area specialists and conservationists – Methodology for identifying, counting, and monitoring water birds.
