- Gandandarjaalan Monastery – It was built in the 1990s to replace the original Mörön Monastery, which was destroyed during the 1937 Stalinist repressions. Once home to 2,000 monks, the site reflects both Mongolia’s spiritual heritage and its revival after 1990. Today, about 40 monks live and practice here, preserving sacred thangka paintings and Buddhist traditions.

DAY 1 MURUN CITY /18 FEB/

Travel to Ulaan-Uul soum
Stop at the 50*100 energy center on the way - It is located 30 km from Mörön city. Japanese and Mongolian researchers have determined that it is an energy center located at the intersection of 50° North latitude and 100° East longitude on the globe.
Visit the 13 mounds of Darkhad Khotgor – Mountain pass leads into the vast Darkhad valley in northern Mongolia. The ovoo /mound/ worship ceremony stems from Mongolian tradition, reflecting a deep respect and reverence for nature.

Arrive in Protected Areas of Sayan Ecoregion - This region covers Tengis-Shishged National Park, Ulaan Taiga, and the Horidol-Saridag Strictly Protected Areas. These protected areas safeguard its unique ecosystems, rare species, and cultural heritage, while also supporting sustainable tourism and benefiting local communities.

DAY 2 MURUN - ULAAN-UUL SOUM /19 FEB/

Khoridol Saridag Strictly Protected Area - As part of the larger Sayan Mountain system in northern Mongolia, this region preserves the high mountain ranges along with their unique plant and animal life, maintaining the area’s rich biodiversity.
“Duut” singing spring - The water of Orgikh Spring is very cold in the summer, yet it has the unique characteristic of continuing to flow even in winter without freezing, even at temperatures as low as –50°C. Next to the spring, a variety of trees and shrubs grow, including evergreen pines, larches, and aspens. It is such a beautiful spot that people often visit specifically to take photos.
Ar Bosgot Gorge is a spectacular natural site located in the Jargalant soum of Khovsgol province in northern Mongolia. The gorge features rugged mountains, rocky cliffs, and river valleys, attracting travelers with its stunning natural formations.

DAY 3 ULAAN-UUL - TSAGAANNUUR /20 MAR/

DAY 4 TSAGAANNUUR - REINDEER FESTIVAL - RENCHINLKHUMBE /21 MAR/

Breakfast
Travel to Jargant river, which is located in Renchinlkhumbe Soum, Khovsgol Province. It is a natural wonder that never freezes, even in winter temperatures as low as –50°C. Locals call it “living water.” In winter, the river remains warm, and the surrounding flowers and plants stay lush and green. The river’s steam transforms nearby trees and bushes into a sparkling white wonderland, making it a popular spot for photography and nature lovers.
Khuvsgul lake National park - Established in 1992, Khovsgol National Park protects Lake Khovsgol and its 70,000 sq km watershed, where nature and nomadic herders coexist. The park spans parts of Alag-Edene, Renchinlhumbe, Hankh, and Chandmani-Undur sums, plus Hatgal village. The forested mountains are home to 63 mammal species, including Argali sheep, ibex, bears, wolverines, sable, moose, snow leopards, lynx, red deer, Siberian roe deer, and wild boar. The lake hosts 9 fish species, including Omul, Lenok, Taimen, and an endemic grayling found nowhere else in the world.
Drive on the frozen surface of Khuvsgul lake - Surrounded by stunning winter landscapes, this unique adventure lets tourists feel the vastness of the lake and enjoy an unforgettable icy journey.
Visit the Sukhbaatar ship – The “Sukhbaatar” ship, a Bor-500 model, sank in Lake Khuvsgul at a depth of 12–16 meters and 110–120 meters from the shore. Over 120 personnel and 50 pieces of equipment were involved in the salvage operation.
